University of Manchester - Humanities Courtyard
- CLIENT: University of Manchester
- CONTRACT VALUE: £196,238
- SECTOR: Education
- ARCHITECT: University of Manchester
- EMPLOYERS AGENT: University of Manchester
Having worked successfully with the University of Manchester over a number of years on multiple projects and to continue our working relationship between both parties, we were approached by the University project team to assist with the courtyard development of the design, provide current commercial and market data as well as assess the programme period and review buildability and logistics for the new quadrant courtyard development at the heart of the Humanities Buildings within the main University campus.
The development brief was to reinvigorate the space which was used as a break out space by academic staff, students and visitors to the buildings. The imagination shown by the landscape designers was for a full revamp of the space maximising the area with a complete strip out of the old and a new specification of design which would include materials such as resin gravel, granite paving, concrete, timber, masonry, and ornamental planting, water features and canvas shading screens to break up the hard materials.
