University of Manchester - Hulme Hall

The works for our client, University of Manchester, to the Hulme Hall building comprised of a full roof replacement and internal refurbishment.
The new roof structure was developed from a combination of steel members and loose timbers to create the low pitch roof falls in keeping with the surrounding buildings. New aluminium roof lights were introduced into the roof zones to create and maximise the natural daylight within the new conference space. The finish of the roof covering and high-level external cladding was undertaken in copper to mark the signature appearance of the building inline with an agreed design principle and planning requirement. To ensure minimal weather ingress into the building whilst undertaking the roof replacement, we constructed a temporary scaffold roof to allow for the continuation of the works within the dry zone.
